10/4/1990 Tom Waits took Doritos chips to court for using a "Tom Waits voice copy" in their radio commercial. The jury awarded him $2,475,000 in damages, and afterwards he commented on the whole thing like this; "By law, I now have what I always felt I had ... a distinctive voice."
